Crane Mechanic Full Time

Position Summary:
The Overhead Bridge Crane Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and daily inspections on all overhead bridge cranes, jib cranes, hoists, and related material‑handling equipment within the SEI facility. This role ensures all lifting equipment operates safely, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate is technically skilled, detail‑oriented, and experienced in maintaining overhead crane systems in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on overhead and jib cranes to identify mechanical or electrical issues.
• Diagnose faults, repair components, and replace defective parts as needed.
• Inspect hoists, chain falls, pullers, and related systems.
• Lubricate moving parts, clean equipment, and respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all work meets OSHA/CSA standards, manufacturer specifications, and company safety policies.
• Maintain adequate stock of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
• Complete and archive daily crane inspections using company approved checklists and upload in the system
• Accurately record service activities, inspection results, and repair notes in the system.
• Provide guidance and training to crane operators on proper use and care.
• Perform equipment overhauls, functional testing, and commissioning after repairs.
• Work closely with maintenance technicians, engineers, and production teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience repairing and maintaining overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Valid Ontario Journeyperson Certification (Red Seal) as a Millwright (433A) or Electrician (309A/442A).
• Post‑secondary education in industrial maintenance, millwrighting, or equivalent; crane‑specific technical training is an asset.
• Minimum of 4,000 hours of documented experience in the service, repair, and maintenance of overhead cranes and hoists in compliance with CSA B167-16.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical crane systems, including design, components, and functionality.
• Certifications such as fall protection or elevated work platform are an asset.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven competency in diagnosis, repair, and troubleshooting of crane systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and strong attention to detail.
• Effective time‑management skills to balance scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Basic computer skills for digital record‑keeping and parts requests.
• Physical ability to work at heights, lift heavy components, and access confined spaces.
• Strong understanding of OHSA/CSA safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to travel to the USA periodically for business needs.

Work Environment:
This role is performed primarily in an industrial plant setting. Required PPE includes steel‑toe boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection. The position may involve climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, and working in confined spaces.

Hourly Rate: $26 to $30 based on qualifications, skills, and interview performance
